the colours ranging between white and pale blue and green celadons, to deeper and more vibrant shades,which are both pleasing to look at and to use. Most of my pots are thrown on an electric wheel, using its wonderful qualities of centering the mind and transforming the shapes; quite similar to dancing.

GAYATRI GORTON POTTER

Originally I trained as a ballet dancer at the Royal Ballet School.

Later, while bringing up my family, I studied pottery at Richmond Adult College, where also I became a technician.

We moved to the Welsh countryside in 1976,

and I set up my workshop here.

In 1990 I did a foundation course in fine art at Shrewsbury Art College, then completed a BA Hons. Degree in ceramics at Harrow School of Art—University of Westminster.

I enjoy making simple and elegant forms for domestic use in porcelain and stoneware, in plain smooth glazes,
